My website
GEORG-ANNE PHILLIPSMy artistic skills have been honed through research, reading, workshops, observation, and continuous practice, practice, practice rather than accredited coursework. I do remember high school drawing class and the guys in the front row, however.
When my boys were in high school, I picked up the bug to draw again. And then learned to paint in watercolor. I haven't looked back. After moving to Alaska from southern California I became a member of Kenai Peninsula Art Guild and have taught one-day workshops on the peninsula. I proudly participated in fund raising events for the Kenai Fine Art Center and won awards in several local juried watercolor shows. I currently belong to Kachemak Bay Watercolor Society. My life lines are my AK. Friends. I am a "Happy Artist in Alaska." I find watercolor exhilarating on my journey as an artist. I love the feel of the line, to characterize or emphasize a place, person or thing. I find birds to be whimsical, colorful, and fun to draw and paint; and they usually bring many smiles. My pencils and pens are never far from my hand and my watercolor paints are my joy. My goal is to expand my subject matter and not limit my challenges. I will continue to experiment and allow it to move me in new directions. My art is a lifelong learning journey. Thanks for coming along. |
