JAN SHERWOODWatercolor is, at the present, my favorite medium; although oils and pastels run a close second -- all based on effective drawing techniques.
Specific training has consisted of curriculum courses, workshop participation, and practice -- a lot of it! Ongoing education is taken mostly from my art library, online videos, and participation in various art groups. It is a joy to show positive notes of nature and humanity by arranging lines, spaces, and intensity of images, expressing three dimensions on a two-dimensional stage. HAPPY VIEWING! |
This painting was a project directed by a talented local community college art instructor in times gone by.
When I look at it, the wisdom shared, the techniques practiced, and the joy of being with good people come rushing to the present. In fact, a "gold nugget" friend was found in this class adventure. She is a current member of "Alaska Friends". |
Although it no longer exists, the Firefly Gallery was in a small original Anchorage house next door to a still active favorite restaurant crowded with summer tourists and winter 'locals'. On one occasion an East Coast college art professor gifted my wall with praises, not knowing he was speaking to the artist. I will always treasure that confidence-builder!
Moral of the story? Participation in small gallery co-ops can widen your horizons! |
